Dogs are talking before they bark

Almost every problem an owner brings to a trainer started as a signal that nobody read. The stiffening, the closed mouth, the head turn, the sudden interest in a patch of grass — dogs run through an entire vocabulary before they resort to noise, and most of it takes under two seconds.
